Zarafae is breathtaking in her arrogant beauty as she gazes down on her stunned attacker.  Damien came to kill her, but she has no idea who this impudent young male is.  She's curious about who he is and why he came here to attack her, and thereby guarantee his own painful death   

Perhaps his only chance of survival would be if she, in her arrogant superiority, decides not to just finish him immediately, but to to play with her victim, give him false hope about his own prospects of victory, let him keep attacking her so that she can keep enjoying the pleasure of showing him again and again how effortlessly she can keep swatting him down .  Her focus might shift to her own strutting superiority just long enough for her to make a mistake that he can exploit.  Either way, I hope she lets him live long enough for a good fight
